<br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to published notice thereof a special meeting <br />of the New Brighton City Council was held Thursday, <br />November 20, 1980 at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, <br />803 5th Avenue NW, New Brighton, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James Senden, Councilmemhers Bob Benke, <br />Roger Blomquist, Jeanette Janecek, Steve Schmidt <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Dennis S. Zylla, City Manager <br />Maurice Anderson, Director of Parks & Recreation <br />Paul Holmes, Chief of Police <br />Al Bauer, Fire Chief <br />Chuck Wood, Director of Liquor Operations <br />Wayne Babbitt, Secretary-Treasurer, Fire Department <br />John Grau, Administrative Assistant <br />Vernon C. Pederson, City Clerk <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor stated this was a continuation of a public hearing <br />held October 7, 1980 and the items to be considered were, <br />Federal Revenue Sharing Funds proposed uses for 1981, <br />review of the proposed Public Safety Building plans, proposed <br />Liquor Building Plans and the 1981-1986 Capital Improvements <br />and Equipment Program. <br /> <br />The Mayor requested comments from the floor regarding 1981 <br />Federal Revenue Sharing uses. No one responded. <br /> <br />The Mayor stated further consideration of Federal Revenue <br />Sharing Funds uses for 1981 would be deferred until the <br />other subjects had been discussed. <br /> <br />Public Safety Building Plans <br /> <br />Mr. Bob Pierce, architect representing Lindberg-Pierce and <br />Associates described design features of the proposed public <br />safety building. <br /> <br />Wayne Babbitt, Fire Department secretary, expressed concern <br />regarding the public meeting room, stating internal security <br />could be a problem. Fire Chief Al Bauer expressed the same <br />concern. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />After considerable discussion the Council directed the <br />architect to provide alternate plans providing for one <br />less bav and if possible an alternate public meeting room <br />entrance~ <br />
