<br />"'-'. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />'1 <br /> <br />.'j' <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATIVE CODE <br />CHAPTER XIII, Sec. 1-4 <br />I <br /> <br />CHAPTIiR XIII <br /> <br />WATER AND SEWER SERVICE LINE POLICY <br />(Revised December 26. 1979) <br /> <br />Section 1. <br /> <br />Scope <br /> <br />This chapter of the code sets forth the policy of the City regarding <br />the maintenance. repair, and liability of private, water or sewer <br />services. <br /> <br />Section 2. Definitions <br /> <br />A. Private Water Service - all water lines from a privat~ <br />structure or building to the public watermain in the <br />street are private water services. <br /> <br />B. Private Sewer Services - all sewer lines from a private <br />structure or building to the public sewer in the street <br />(8" or larger line) are private sewer services. <br /> <br />Section 3. Policy On Repair And Maintenance <br /> <br />Any private water or sewer service which breaks, settles or <br />becomes blocked or frozen shall be the property owners responSibility. <br />except as noted below: <br /> <br />A. The City shall assume the repair costs on any private water <br />or sewer services which are damaged as a result of the <br />installation. improper functioning or repair of other <br />City owned facilities. <br /> <br />B. The City shall assume the repair costs for any breaks, <br />settlements or obstructions in the "City installed portion" <br />of the private water or sewer service which are a result <br />of improper construction and which occurs within 2 years <br />from the date of installation by the City. The "City <br />installed portion" of the private water or sewer service <br />will be that portion within the public right-of-way <br />installed by City contract. <br /> <br />C. The City shall assume the cost of thawing frozen private <br />water services which are in normal use during the winter <br />months if the freezing occurs in the "City installed <br />portion" and provided the depth of cover over the service <br />as it was originally installed, has not been reduced. <br /> <br />Section 4. Procedures <br /> <br />A. All calls relative to water or sewer breaks or blockages <br />or frozen water services shall be referred to the City <br />Engineer. <br />
