Weltzin, P.E. <br />Director and County Engineer <br />167 Courthouse <br />Saint Paul, Minnesota 55102 <br /> <br />RE: Street Sweeping Agreement <br /> <br />Ken, the purpose of this letter is to request a higher <br />increase in the 1980 sweeping agreement than the 7% <br />originally offered. <br /> <br />Our City Council rejected the agreement because a 7% <br />increase does not keep pace with our operating costs. <br />For example, our labor costs increased approximately <br />8~% over 1979 and fuel costs about 37%. <br /> <br />Please let me know if any adjustments can be made in <br />the agreement, now or in the future. <br /> <br />We do wish to continue the sweeping agreement because <br />we feel it works very well. In fact we completed the <br />first sweeping of County roads about May 15th in <br />anticipation that the agreement would be approved. <br /> <br />I might also note that we sweep all of our City streets <br />and County roads a minimum of 3 times per season even <br />though the agreement only requires 2 sweepings. <br /> <br />Yours truly, <br /> <br />~p~ <br /> <br />Leslie J.
