Dr.
Blomber':-) indicated that the Plan did not seek concentrated
building mass as in other development areas with which he
was familiar'.

Mr. Joe Poeshek inquired as to when something would be
decided on his land.

Mr. Dan Bucholz, Executive Vice President of the North
Suburban Area Chamber of Commerce, was for redevelopment
but was also concerned about the possibility of not
adequately providing for existing businessmen. rrhe Mayor
directed receipt of a letter from the Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Daryl Schmalzbauer stated that he was concerned about
the committee's selection process and that nothing has
changed since the last meeting. He would rather see
redevelopment occur by people buying one another's land
in private transactions.

Gladys Walbon stated concern that many of the current
property owners will not be able to stay.

Kathy Bona, 703 2nd Avenue NW, expressed concerns about
infringement in the Park and hoped that the northeast
and northwest corners would be developed first to
minimize the impact on current business people.

The City Council responded to all of the questions noting
that the Development Plan was a concept and that the market
would determine just when and on what parcels redevelopment
would occur. The City had to deal with certain site restraints,
such as the major streets in downtown, and that the process
was necessary in order to revitalize the downtown area.

Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke to close the hearing
at 9:21 p.Ill.
5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried

Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Schmidt to authorize pre-
paration of the final General Development Plan incorporating
COHunents of both the Planning Commission and the ci ty Council.

-2-
