Report No. 09-083. <br />Resolution No. 09-020 . *Moved from ConseW Agenda. <br />Councilmcsnber Burg suggested announcing the appointments to advisory commissions. <br />Motion by Councilmember Bauman seconded by Councilmember Phillips to approve a resolution <br />making appointments to Municipal Advisory Conm uissions as follows: <br />Parks, Recreation, and Environmental Commission: Lisa Harreld, Tom Trevorrow <br />Council Representative Mary Burg <br />Public Safety Commission: Ken Schumann Tuh Woods Robert Allen <br />Council Representative Sharon Dolling <br />Economic Development Commission: Current expiring terms extended until 5/31/2009 <br />Council Representative Gina Bauman <br />Planning Commission: Steve Danger, James Alvey <br />Council Representative David Ph0lips <br />Civil Service Commission: Bill Kerns, Cindy Ketola <br />Staff Representative Bob Jacobson <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Uudates <br />City ManagenDean Lotter <br />The 3TO annual Town Hall meeting was announced; May 2" d at the Family Service Center, departmental <br />presentations will be offered. Appreciation was expressed to Councilmernber Bw an for her service as <br />liaison to the Northwest Quadrant Financial Task Force. The Rotary Gold Plate event will be April 3, 2009 <br />at the Mermaid. City Manager Lotter reminded the council the National League of Cities Conference is <br />scheduled for November 2009. <br />Councilmember Mary Burs <br />Councilmember Burg attended the Public Safety Volunteer appreciation dinner, and reminded citizens to be <br />observant and call when suspicious activity is noticed. The Mounds View Community Theater is preparing <br />for their upcoming production. <br />Councilmember David Phillipps <br />Councilmember Phillips reported Councilmember Doffing attending the Planning Commission meeting on <br />March 17 I in his absence, and he will &end the upcoming Public Safety Commission meeting. <br />Councihnember Sharon <br />Councilmember Doffing expressed her gratitude to the members of the Planning Commission for their <br />efforts. A reception for Officer Troy Hyland was attended, he is being deployed to Iraq to train police <br />officers. The Volunteer in Public Safety appreciation dinner was attended, and residents were encouraged to <br />get involved. The East Metro SWAT team was honored as SWAT team of the year, Officers Sypniewsla <br />and Emerson are part of that group. Police Explorer & Firefighter Brian Crocker was awarded the National <br />Leadership Award, and the Youth Services Award There is a possibility the Public Safety Commission <br />meeting may move their meeting to the third Tuesdays of the month The Public Safety Department was <br />holding their first CERT Supplemental Training Session. Congratulations were expressed to Officers <br />Sypniewski and Emerson for their receiving the Medal of Honor Award earlier. <br />5.
