• <br />April 14, 2009 Page 4 ol'4 <br />Councilmember Mary Bure-Parks ,Recreation and Environmental Commission <br />Councilmember Burg reported she attended the recent Park, Recreation & Environmental Commission, <br />along with the Trails Committee meeting. Parks and Recreation staff, Brad Martens and Patrice Atkinson <br />gave presentations encouraging residents to be active. Summer registration is now open and accepting <br />registration. Park, Recreation and Environmental Commission member Ron Meyer and his wife <br />are serving as Winter Carnival Royalty. Also it was reported the North Suburban Cable Commission is <br />reviewing scholarship applications. <br />Councilmember David Phillips -Planning Commission <br />Councilmember Phillips attended the Public Safety Commission meeting, where commission structure was <br />discussed. <br />Councilmember Sharon Doffing -Public Safety Commission <br />Councilmember Doffing reported local business Scharro Lifiing Products has announced an Open House, <br />April 15fl , from 9:00 am -6:00 pm. The next Public Safety Commission meeting will be held April 29th at <br />6:30 pm. The Civil Service Commission will be meeting Monday, April 20� to discuss potential future <br />hiring processes. The East Metro SWAT team is receiving the 2009 Local Government innovations award <br />form the Hubert Humphrey Institute. Fire Captain Trevor Hamdorf received a HAZMAT grant near <br />$4,000. Northwest Youth and Family Services annual leadership lunch is scheduled for Wednesday May <br />6'`, at Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville. Gratitude was expressed to all who donated blood at the <br />recent blood drive. The annual Firefighter Banquet is being held April I e. ` Councilmetriber Doffing plans <br />on attending the Minnesota chapter on Minnesotans concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). <br />Councilmember Gina Bauman -Economic Development Commission <br />Councilmember Bauman attended a recent EDC meeting, and reported that the current commissioners will <br />remain through May 31, 2009, and at that time Council will determine if any changes will be made to the <br />commission. <br />Mayor Larson <br />Mayor Larson announced Betty McCollum will be at the Family Service Center Wednesday, April 15'. <br />North Metro Mayor's Association will be meeting with the legislature to look at local issues. A joint <br />meeting between the League of Minnesota Cities, School Boards and Counties will follow.
