Brightondale Senior Assisted Living Campus
Brightondale Senior Assisted Living was built in 1988 as a 3-story senior independent building.
It was purchased by SilverCrest in 1993 and converted to a senior assisted living building to
accommodate the needs of the residents who were aging in place. Since this time we have
enlarged our main kitchen and converted one-half of a floor into units for memory care
residents.
No major renovation of the building has taken place to date. To keep Brightondale up to date
with current design trends for assisted living and to be competitive in the marketplace, we are
anticipating an interior renovation of over$1 million in cost to the first and second floor
common areas. This renovation includes increasing the size of the main first floor dining room
by nearly 1,200 SF. The increase in the dining room size allows us to provide a bistro type
restaurant area for the residents as well as, for the first time ever, provide a gathering/seating
area for resident activities on the first floor. There will be continuous windows on the north
and west side of this addition to gain maximum lighting into this large space and provide a view
out to the wooded landscape.
Also, on the first floor, the reception area would be updated and a conference room for
residents and staff will be added to existing common areas. Bathrooms will be updated to
make them fully accessible to residents.
On the second floor, common areas will be renovated to make them more usable and enjoyable
for Brightondale residents. We will be creating a separate library with computers and a multi-
purpose room to be closed off with glass for noise privacy. The multi-purpose room can be
used as a chapel and/or for scheduled and supervised exercise as well as other functions.
The expansion of the dining room at the back courtyard will not have a significant impact on the
neighbors to the west. The new dining room addition will be extended approximately 50 feet in
width. This new addition will be approximately 80 feet from the west property line and will not
substantially impact the existing vegetative buffer to the neighborhood.
The addition will be slab on grade and will require minimal grading. The current landscaping at
Brightondale is mature and plentiful on the west edge with the neighbors. The landscape plan
shows the plantings that will be used as replacement landscaping around the new patio.
Exterior materials will be similar to the materials on the existing building, grey wood lap siding,
painted hardboard panels and teal colored flashing and accent trim.
