Director for Mounds View Public Schools, office out of Pike Lake Education Center. • Most of what was done regarding the joint powers agreement at Freedom Park was a three way partnership between the Pike Lake PTA, the City Rec. Department and the School District. The area of concern is the area between the Pike Lake building and the park. The City doesn't go too close to the Pike Lake building and the School District doesn't go too far into the park. • The tennis courts are the Rec. Department's responsibility. This partnership is one that others aspire to. The amenities are right there for the entire community. • The Pike Lake Learning Center offers classes from pre-school to adult. There is a sign up by the playground that talks about the partnership. Most of the Pike Lake Center use is on the playground; not the park. Frischman inquired if we could help the kids out with a sign. Breuer thought we could. She also noted that there was a sign up there that was continually vandalized so we took it down. She is willing to try the sign again. Trevor Hamdorf, Grid Officer for the Freedom Park area • Works patrol on the might shift. • Police Dept. is a band aid. We have a strong history of solving problems but it is in working with the community. Polynesian Village is one example and the disc golf course another. Involve lots of organizations and people working together. Not sure driving through more often will solve the problem. Need long term, group effort. We have a lot of people that really want to see this work in New Brighton we want to be a model City for a lot of people. Our crime -free multi - housing model has really grown. Others have emulated what we have done. We have been trespassing people from the park since 2005. It is probably one of the most effective things we have done. We are pro -active but there is always more we could do. The curfew area is a way we could do more. The Police Department is only one piece to the whole puzzle. If all those concerned come together and make a plan and track it we can solve this. Tony Paetznick, Police Officer/Crime Prevention • We are at Freedom, we are doing things. We need the public's help. • Amazed that 30 kids showed up at the first meeting that Ray held. This included people from organizations such as Poly Partners, Northwest Youth and Family Service. This is important to working toward a solution. • Education is also important. We need to have eyes on the site. Having legitimate users at the park helps drive out those with bad behavior.
