0 Allina Medical <br />Bill Snoke and Mark Dascalos, the regional operations manager for our North Metro <br />region attended the meeting. Mr. Snake shared a graph on improved response time by <br />Allina averaging a 7 minute, 8 second response. There were 340 emergency ambulance <br />responses in the first quarter. There was discussion regarding quality vs. the importance <br />of a quick response. Mr. Snoke also indicated that he would follow up with other <br />ambulance service response times. He also briefly discussed the plans for swine flu <br />response. <br />Mr. Dascalos shared the need to protect first responders so that they can stay healthy to <br />ensure continued response for citizens. Mr. Dascalos then discussed how to best protect <br />the public and patients. He added that the medical community in MN is not yet alarmed <br />but they are getting prepared to include confirming the number of N 95 masks available <br />to them. He also talked about the relative safety in New Brighton and large gathering <br />places such as the Mall of America or the Airport. <br />Commissioner Elwell asked about the real threat or potential threat. Mr. Snoke explained <br />that there is no natural immunity and has spread to other countries and is in a human to <br />human transmission. <br />Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br />Commissioner Woods reported: <br />• Had a VIPS meeting on Tuesday with a very large turnout <br />• Had a blood drive (smaller number) but did receive 26 units of blood <br />• Continuing to do fingerprinting (the late Eunice Westby was the main person who <br />conducted fingerprinting) <br />• Roberta Allen now doing fingerprinting <br />• Had a CERT refresher <br />• Will be participating in Town Hall <br />• Project Lifesaver has two new possible applicants <br />• Bob Parrott has been very active, and, he has been hired by Ramsey County Sheriff's <br />to start up the program for suburban Ramsey County <br />• Graffiti seems to be reduced <br />• PREC is having a meeting regarding Freedom Park activities especially the skate park <br />• The PSC is becoming "greener" to include energy efficient light bulbs, recycling, etc. <br />Public Safety / Homeland Security Update <br />Director Jacobson reported the following: <br />• Arson at Hansen Park has been solved and the suspect has pled guilty <br />• Civil Service Commission has met and has a new member, Ms. Cindy Ketola <br />• Public Safety has been given the approval to negotiate with the Metro Gang Task <br />Force to combine evidence/property functions and hire a new person (paid for by <br />Metro Gang Task Force). <br />
