Page 3 • It's the kids not here tonight that are causing the problems. • Have a great Police Dept. in the City. He would like to see more enforcement of these minor, misdemeanor crimes. There was a serious assault in the park that could have been avoided by a little enforcement. Start trespassing some of the trouble makers. • Make the park a place we can be proud of where kids can play safely. • Continue programs in the park with adult supervision, intervention for at -risk kids, the kids that don't get the message need to go. If we do those three things, we can solve the problem. • No reason for people to be in the park after dark. There is a curfew. Fuller stated he walks through the park. • His 12 yr. old did not think removing the skate park made sense. Those that make trouble will go somewhere else. The skaters would probably go to businesses or churches in the area to skate. I> don't think the businesses and churches would appreciate that. The skate park is a great addition. • If we let the minority that are causing trouble know it is not acceptable, they will go some place else. Have lived next to the park for 21 yrs. • His children went to. Pike Lake. They used the park. It is a wonderful amenity. There is a behavior issue that needs to be dealt with. In the last few years have become very concerned about the skateboard park. + Went to internet to find info about skateboard parks. Website called "Concrete Disciples" It is a National organization that ranks skateboard parks. Found New Brighton's listed. Description listed the park as ghetto potheads. + Her son was bothered by kids asking him to use his bike, the neighbor kid let them use his bike and they wrecked it. • Many programs in the park have adult supervision, skateboarding does not. • Need some major changes; not willing to let things stay the way they are. • Skateboarders need to help by reporting trouble, respectful of families no smoking, drinking and swearing. • The skateboard park should be monitored, like the warming house. Hire someone to be a presence in the area.
