MRESOLUTION NO. <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTING PUBLIC WORKS POLICIES <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton has responsibility to maintain its infrastructure which <br />varies both in age and in quality of condition and recognizes that some surface or subsurface conditions <br />can create unreasonable hazards for pedestrians and other users; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City does not have unlimited employee or financial resources and cannot <br />reasonably eliminate all hazards or replace or repair all infrastructure within the same year of being <br />identified as needing replacement and repair; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City and its Public Works Department must exercise both discretion and <br />professional judgment in determining whether unreasonable hazards exist and when public infrastructure <br />needs to be replaced or repaired. The City expects that its agents, employees, and city officials will <br />exercise discretion in identifying hazardous conditions and conditions requiring replacement and repair, <br />in the scheduling of replacement and repair, and in establishing priorities for replacement and repair; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City has developed policies for the following infrastructure related items: <br />Water and Sewer Service Line Policy <br />Snow and Ice Control Policy <br />Street Sweeping Policy <br />Sidewalk/Trail Inspection and Repair Policy <br />Pothole Repair Policy <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEW <br />BRIGHTON, MINNESOTA: <br />The City Council has reviewed and approves the proposed policies and directs the City <br />Manager and staff to proceed with implementation of the policies. <br />Adopted by the City Council this 8h day of September, 2009. <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />Steve Larson, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Dean R.
