City of New Brighton <br /> GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING <br /> STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECTS <br /> Streets scheduled for reconstruction in 2010 have been selected based on their age, condition, maintenance <br /> history,and requests from residents for the street to be rehabilitated. <br /> PROCESS &PROPOSED SCHEDULE <br /> • Informational meeting with property owners within the project area(October 2009). <br /> • Staff prepares a Feasibility Report based on input from the informational meeting. <br /> • Feasibility Report presented to the City Council and Public Improvement Hearing date set. <br /> (November,2009) <br /> • Residents notified of date and time of Public Improvement Hearing. <br /> • Public Improvement Hearing is held at which time City Council orders or abandons the project. <br /> (December 2009) <br /> • St.Anthony prepares plans and specifications. <br /> • Advertise for bids. <br /> • Open bids and award contract. <br /> • Construction(May-September 2010) <br /> • Assessment Hearing(October, 2011) <br /> PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION <br /> STREET SURFACING will be reconstructed to the original 9 ton design. <br /> CONCRETE CURB AND GUTTER will be removed and replaced with utility work. <br /> STORM SEWER will be installed where necessary or as required by the City Comprehensive Drainage Plan. <br /> WATER AND SEWER UTILITY improvements and repairs will be completed during the early stages of <br /> construction as necessary. <br /> FINANCING STREET RECONSTRUCTION PROJECTS <br /> STREET SURFACING is proposed to be paid for by a combination of a city wide tax, Municipal State Aid <br /> Funds, and special assessments against benefiting property owners in the project area.According to the New <br /> Brighton Comprehensive Street Plan, 75 percent of the street surfacing and curb and gutter repair is paid for <br /> by taxes,and 25 percent of the street surfacing and curb and gutter repair is special assessed. <br /> STORM SEWER improvements are proposed to be paid for by the City's Storm Water Management Fund. <br /> PRIVATE SEWER AND WATER SERVICE repair costs are the responsibility of the property owner. <br /> CITY WATER AND SEWER UTILITY improvements and repairs are proposed to be paid for from the <br /> appropriate city utility fund. <br /> Please call (651)638-2050 or stop in City Hall and visit with the Engineering Department if you have any <br /> questions regarding Street Reconstruction projects. <br />
