October 13, 2009 Page 4 of 5 <br />additional cost of the changing from a wood chip path to a bitiuninous path, in addition a request <br />for the engineer to bring back pricing from Peterson to add a bike lane. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays, Motion Carried <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />City Man er--Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported Director Wyffels met with Retrofit Companies through Xcel Energy for an <br />electrical usage audit The audit revealed all the T8 and T12 bulbs can be changed to a 25 watt bulb to <br />allow for significant savings. Energy Harvesting fixtures can be used in areas where lights aren't required <br />to be on regularly. An annual saving of $2,800 would be achieved. The cost to retrofit the current fixtures <br />would be approximately $5,000. The other significant area for savings is in the pop machine, a "miser' <br />can be installed to monitor use, and adjust power accordingly. <br />City Manager Lotter will be meeting with the Pollution Control Agency to discuss the Ashland Refinery <br />site. It was reported that Risdall Marketing has submitted information with regards to Developer ideas. <br />To answer a question from Councilmember Doffing, Mr. Lotter reported the first round of interviews for <br />potential Police Officers have been completed. The next step would be an interview with Director <br />Jacobson and Manager Lotter. Depending on the outcome of those interviews, an advertisement be <br />submitted. <br />Councilmember Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported that the following nine member were appointed to the EDC <br />commission: Bob Benke, Dennis Flahave, Mark Nelson, D.L. Beach, Bob Smith, Terri Snell, Marie <br />Hansen, Mike Mudowski, and Ruben Vazquez. Gratitude was expressed to all thirteen applicants. <br />Councilmember David Philli <br />Coundmember Phillips reported Planning Commission will meet October 2e Interviews are being <br />conducted for the vacancy on the Planning Commission. Residents were encouraged to consider serving <br />on an advisory commission in the coming year. <br />Manor Larson <br />Mayor Larson reported at the recent Public Safety Commission meeting a representative from Allma <br />Medical was there discussing Heart Safe. They will be attending an upcoming Council Meeting, <br />Councilmember MaryB <br />Councilmember Burg attended the North Suburban Cable Commission and North Suburban access <br />Corporation meetings the FCC is taking public comment about gove=ent axess channels. It is being <br />heavily lobbied to eliminate or change government access. The next Parks, Recreational and <br />Environmental Commission meeting is scheduled for October le. At the earlier work session the golf <br />course was discussed, Councilmember Burg reported the rumors about selling or closing the golf course <br />are untrue. Councihnember Burg attended the Harvest Dinner, through the New Brighton Area Historical <br />Society and the New Brighton Eagles there were 170 people in attendance. The League of Women <br />Voters will be hosting the Candidate Forms for the 2009 local Election. October 22' a School Board <br />candidate forum is scheduled. <br />Coram On I.iE&M <br />Reverts.
