r <br />Foley was elected Vice -Chair of Governmental Affairs for the Criminal Justice Section of <br />the American Bar Association and served on its Executive Committee (2004-2005) <br />Foley served on the Board of Directors of the National District Attorneys Association <br />from 1979 to 1995 and was elected vice-president of the association in 1982. He also <br />was President of the Minnesota County Attorneys Association. In 1998, Foley was <br />appointed Washington County Attorney in Stillwater, Minnesota, filling out the <br />remainder of an elected term. <br />Foley has been active in both State and National politics. In 1992, he served as Chairman <br />of the Clinton for President Campaign in Minnesota. He was appointed to serve on the <br />Justice Department transition team (1992). In 1994, he was a Democratic candidate for <br />the U.S. Senate. In 1998, Senator Doug Johnson asked Foley to be his running mate in <br />the Gubernatorial election. In 2000, Foley was the Independence Party candidate for the <br />U.S. House of Representatives in Minnesota's e District. Foley has appeared on <br />numerous public affairs programs commenting on a variety of public policy issues. <br />Foley has been active in a numerous other areas. He served for many years on the Board <br />of Directors of the Salvation Army. In 1991, he led a human rights mission to Albania to <br />review criminal justice and human rights issues. In 1989, he was a member of the <br />Minnesota Governor's Select Committee on the Impact of Drugs on Crime, Education, <br />and Social Welfare. From 1983 to 1994, he served as Chairman of Minnesota Elected <br />Officials for Soviet Jewry. In 1991, he was asked to participate in a fact-finding mission <br />to Moscow to assist Russian refuseniks. He also served on the Minnesota Attorney <br />General's Task Force on Prevention of Violence against Women. He is a member of the <br />COSMOS CLUB in Washington D.C. <br />Foley holds both Bachelors and Law degrees from the University of Minnesota. <br />He is married to Jana McKeag and has two children, Jordan and Mitchell. <br />9 <br />
