0
WORKSESSION ITEM
CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON
PUBLIC WORKS/ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
MEMORANDUM
DATE: February 5, 2010
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council, City Manager
FROM: Grant Wyffels, Director of Public Works (:104k4l
SUBJECT: City Project 09-8, Silver Lake Road / County Road H Traffic Signals update.
MATERIALS FOR FEBRUARY 9, 2009 MEETING
Next Tuesday evening at the work session, staff plans to discuss the status of efforts to acquire
the necessary easements for a traffic signal upgrade at Silver Lake Road and County Road H.
Staff has worked for 12 months, but so far the property owner has been uncooperative. We've
asked the city attorney to be present to discuss options with regard to taking the necessary
easements by condemnation if further efforts to acquire the property with an arms length
transaction are unsuccessful.
• Attached is the previous Council Report from February 10, 2009 for this project. Ramsey
County previously anticipated installing the traffic signal in 2009, but since the easements were
not acquired by the City, the County could not move forward with the project. The funding for
the signal is still in-place and the signal could be built this summer if the City is able to acquire
the necessary easement.
0
