-3—
Jake stated that at the Pike Lake Building, they have ash trays out. He stated, if you don't want
people to smoke, you shouldn't provide ash trays.
• Tandeski mentioned that the School District has now arranged for the adult smokers to smoke on
the other side of their building so they are not seen smoking on the park side.
Harreld commented she agrees with Norton to bring this back, maybe in May. Harreld felt,
maybe wait until June.
Trevorrow felt May would be a good time to do it, just put it on as an open item.
Samuelson too liked the idea of having an update.
Schricker felt waiting until June may be better because there may not be much activity going on
because of the weather.
The Commission agreed that the Public Comment forum works very well.
Officer Hamdorf suggested it be an update from Sandy, or whomever she would delegate.
Someone would give an update on the skate park.
Breuer summarized that the Commission would like to revisit this again on June 2, 2010 with an
update on the skate park from herself, or Officer Hamdorf, youth can be invited as well as the
community and public comment could be received.
MOTION BY HARRELD, SECONDED BY NORTON, THAT WE RECOMMEND TO
COUNCIL THAT WE CONTINUE THE SKATEBOARD PARK AS IS. MOTION CARRIED.
Frischman thanked everyone who came tonight.
Vl. Correspondence
A. Council Report — Council Member Mary Burg
Burg stated last time they talked about the trail up at South Park at the NWQ and
changing the bike trail to a different width. We came to a consensus that we
would add a 12 ft bike trail just on the very south end of the hill that winds
underneath the railroad bridge. It is pretty steep and it is a safety issue.
Burg stated she did remind the Council of the Northwest Quadrant Parks Strategic
Plan.
League of Minnesota Cities has a forum on emerald ash borer and opportunities
for grants.
Cable Commission is tomorrow. Topic of discussion is not what she thought it
would be.
0 Harreld asked about whether the City will be hiring a forester.
