Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:37 p.m. II. Roll Call Present: Commissioners Frischman; Harreld; Heinrich; Harreld; Norton; Trevorrow; Council Liaison Burg; Director, Breuer and Office Assistant, Olson Also Present: Recreation Supervisor, Pat Tuma ; Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Jason West; Parks Manager, Chris Wolla; Friends of Hansen Park Disc Golf, Dave Becchetti, Eric Harvey and Scott Donovan. Absent: None III. Minutes of November 4, 2009 MOTION BY NORTON, SECONDED BY HARRELD, TO APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 4, 2009 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. IV. Special Order of Business — Disc Golf Course Donation Breuer stated we are accepting a donation on behalf of friends of Hansen Park. An avid group of disc golfers have dubbed themselves "Friends of HansenDisc, Golf Course." The group is in regular contact with Wolla, Parks Manager, about ideas, and maintenance issues that need to be addressed at the course. This year many of the old style `cone baskets were in need of repair. The cone shaped baskets are one of the reasons people come°fio this course. The cones were sand blasted and repainted. The group was very happy,with this and decided to collect donations. The group made a donation of $630. We thank them-' for their donation. Breuer asked Dave Becchetti, Eric Harvey and Scott Donovan to come forward. Both Eric and Scott stated they like to play the Hansen Course. It is clean and welt maintained. The old style cone baskets are a draw to them. There are about 40-45 that are friends of Hansen Park Disc Golf Course and are willing to donate time to help maintain this course. Theirdonation reflects only '/Z year of contributing. They are hoping next year will bring more donations. They are thankful to Director Breuer, Chris Wolla and staff and to this Commission. Dave Becchetti mentioned that they refer to the course as the "Historic Hansen Park Disc Golf Course". "The Jewel" is Hansen Park. Frischman stated this has certainly come full circle. She commended them on where this has come. We have had some heated debates with the residents. This is truly one of the success stories for -the City v New Brighton and Parks and Recreation. She thanked them for their involvement. Harreld commented that she runs through Hansen Park. There are always people at the disc golf course. It"s great to see that there are always people out there. Frischman commented that when we see people using the parks, we feel like we've done our job. Thanks again. V. Trails Committee Update — Adam Parker; Chair Adam Parker, Chair, commented that there was a good turn out. The Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant TCAAP has been part of the discussion. Had discussion on where this is headed. The City of Shoreview has shown some interest in the outcome of this land sale and the future use. This has also become a focus of this Trails Committee to get New Brighton's voice heard. We are moving forward with getting more information and getting action items done
