Summer Playground —This program has over a 30 year history with the
community. It however is very labor intensive, and requires daily/weekly trips for
supplies. The program's net revenue is 18%.
T-Ball/Coaches Pitch — The youth athletic associations are looking at providing
their services to the younger age groups starting in 2011; those we are currently
serving. It might be an ideal time to let another organization handle this program.
Summer Youth Field Trips — In 2009, the youth field trips did not run. Trips
have already been marketed for the summer 2010. Based on the trip
registrations received this summer, it will determine if trips are offered in 2011.
Recommendations:
The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that Council supports the
discontinuation of the following programs based on the individual timeline stated
above in each program summary: Kids Night Out/Parents Night Off, Teen
Scene, Skyhawks Camps, Safety Camp, Senior Prom, Indoor Tennis, Twins
Clinic, Adaptive Recreation Teen Club and Tree Sale.
The Parks and Recreation will present to Council future recommendations on
program cuts after the review process has been completed on the following
programs: Gymnastics, Summer Playground, T-Ball/Coaches Pitch, Aquatics
and Summer Youth Field Trips.
H:Service Levels Nemo.doc
