CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />PUBLIC WOKKS/ENGINEEKING DEPARTMENT <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: July 9, 2010 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council, City Manager <br />FROM: Grant Wyffels, Director of Public Works 6 -o -V <br />SUBJECT: Bicentennial Pond Storm Sewer Improvement District <br />WORKSESSION MATERIALS FOR JULY 13, 2010 MEETING <br />Next Tuesday evening at the work session, staff plans to discuss the status of the Bicentennial <br />Pond Storm Sewer Improvement District. Last year, on December 8, 2009, a resolution was <br />made by City Council to consider revising the taxing district boundaries for the upcoming 2011 <br />assessment. At the Worksession, staff will provide information to the Council regarding history, <br />how the district boundaries were established, project funding, and the recent reluctance of some <br />of the neighbors to continue on with the district. <br />Agenda <br />1) Legislative History <br />a) The neighborhood surrounding Bicentennial Pond was Platted in 1978. <br />b) Pond dredging occurred winter of 2000-2001. <br />c) Additional stormwater was directed into the basin in 2002 with the street reconstruction <br />project of 3`d Street NW. <br />d) On April 9, 2002 the City Council adopted an ordinance establishing a storm sewer <br />improvement district and approved a 5 -year pond maintenance improvement plan. <br />e) On June 12, 2007 the City Council approved a 5 -year pond maintenance improvement <br />plan. <br />2) Project Funding <br />3) How district boundaries are established / changed <br />4) Next Steps <br />
