-5 -
Breuer said this is only one Department that is affected. Other Departments are
affected too.
Norton said that he wants residents to know that when a service disappears, there
needs to be a connection with the community, this is why it disappeared. It is not
because employees are not doing their job.
Jacobsen commented that this is a sign of the times. People are seeing and feeling
this in many areas. She feels fortunate to even have a job.
Strub said that if this is not discussed at the Town Hall meeting, and there is no
other public forum, before anyone has a chance to learn about this, their favorite
program could be gone. If the community does not know about this, there is no
transparency in government. That is troubling.
Harreld expressed that it is easy to say we do not want taxes raised, but we have
all stressed that we want to also keep the quality of life we currently have because
that is what New Brighton is about.
Burg passed around the budget projection that was discussed at the Council work
session the evening before. It projects out 25 years. 1% increase is about $70,000.
Breuer stated to make our Fleet/Non-Fleet budget, we would have to have an
• added installment of $290,000 starting next year.
Burg stated the City has never planned for maintenance or replacement of Capital
projects.
Breuer stated every year at the Town Hall meeting, the City focuses on one or two
issues. This year the focus is on Emerald Ash Borer and update on the Northwest
Quadrant. A question and answer session will be at the end.
X. Adjourn — Group Photo Following Meeting
MOTION BY FRISCHMAN, SECONDED BY HEINRICH, TO ADJOURN AT 7:35 P.M.
MOTION CARRIED.
