• Commissioner Haring and Commissioner Kroll are planning to attend a human rights <br />training in Roseville. <br />Commissioner Woods reported the Board of Directors of League of Human Rights will <br />hold their July meeting here at the Public Safety Center. <br />Allina Medical <br />Mr. Dave Matteson, Allina Medical, reported Mr. Bill Snoke has been reassigned to the <br />Department of EMS which is still part of Allina. He will work with other communities as <br />a mentor. <br />The 1 -day authorized nurse's strike will affect how many patients a hospital can have. <br />Allina would have to transport patients to other hospitals without striking nurses. <br />Mr. Matteson reported they are working on more hours of coverage for the north metro <br />region which continues to be very busy. <br />Ten new paramedics will be starting next week. All of these new paramedics are internal <br />hires so their training periods will be shorter. <br />Mr. Matteson reported that last Thursday there was a rollover accident on 35W/County <br />Road E2. Mr. Matteson reported he was first on scene and Officer Hamdorf and another <br />New Brighton officer responded and were a great help. <br />Volunteers in Public Safetv (VIPS <br />Commissioner Woods reported the following: <br />o Gayle Christensen was awarded the Red Cross "Citizen' Hero Award. <br />o VIPS will assist New Brighton Police Reserves and Ramsey County Sheriff's <br />personnel with the Triathlon on Saturday, June 5`h <br />o VIPS will have CPR training at their June meeting. <br />o VIPS continue to do graffiti checks; especially around the Cleveland Ave bridge. <br />Public Safetv / Homeland Security Update <br />Director Jacobson reported that Tony Paetznick will be promoted to Deputy Director <br />effective Junel, 2010. <br />Fire Fighter Scott Elwell will be recognized at the June 8d` Council meeting for his years <br />of service to the Fire Department. <br />There was a double house fire on 23`d Ave NW; there was a great response and a great <br />job was done by everyone who responded. <br />0 <br />
