NEW BRIGHTON PARKS, RECREATION, AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />June 2, 2010 <br />wmm.00-nw (Minutes in Weir enCrety are kept on DVD at City Nall) <br />• L Call to Order <br />The meeting was calf to order by Chair Norton at 6:30 p.m. <br />IL Members Present Commissioners Frischman, Harrold Heinrich, Jacobsen, Norton, Stmt, <br />Trevonow, Council Liaison Burg and Director of Parks and Recreation Breuer, <br />Also Present Mayor Dave Jacobson. Public m attendance: Tom Weidenkopf, Melissa Grams, <br />Michele Schicker and Ray Taadesli. Public Safety Dept: Trevor Hammuf and Intem Ben <br />Theraldson <br />Absent: None <br />Mayor Jacobsen stated there was extensive discussion about Parks and Recreation and service <br />level cuts. The Mayor was ruling for the Parks, Remember and Environmental Commission's <br />cooperation and help with the following items: <br />• Review Parks and Recreation service level cuts and make rcwmmendation 0 the Counal. <br />• Receive resident comments mouthing goose round up in the City aed make recommendation <br />to the Council. <br />There was lengthy discussion pertaining 0 the goose issue, intertwined with the issue of the <br />Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission not being televised any longe. Breuer asked <br />if, in the interest of time, we could move on to the Skmte Pak agenda item and the Sunni i Water <br />• Pollution Prevention presentation and come back to this discussion after Nose agenda items. <br />Breuer asked if the agenda could be adjusted to move the Skate Board Park Update up after <br />approving the May 5, 2010 minutes. She would like m leave "New Business" az it is and discuss <br />service levels and Some removal. <br />MOTION BY HEWRICH, SECOND BY HARRELD, TO CHANGE THE AGENDA AS <br />NOTED BY DIRECTOR BREUER. MOTION CARRIED. <br />III. Minutes of May 5, 2010 <br />MOTION BY HEINRICH, SECONDED BY HARRELD, TO APPROVE THE MAY 5, 2010 <br />MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br />W. Tmils Committee Update -Brian Swb; Closer <br />Stmb stated the Trails Committee meeting was held just print to this meethrg. They had a healthy <br />discussion on how to continue the dialog regarding the State Legislation which passed Complete <br />Street policy for the State of Mhmesora They had a Been discussion on how 10 position New <br />Brighton should there be federal funds available for cities with Complete Sneers. We are <br />stretegizing. The City is already doing a lot in principal with Complete Sayers which is really <br />good news. The Committee continues to have a focus on connectivity and the momentum on <br />Complete Sneers. There was a new item discussed about reducing speed limit on Silver Lake <br />Road and 694 (between Bel Air School and Highview Middle School). The Commivu wi6 <br />• continue to discuss that and other issues. There was a map distributed of walking, miming, <br />biking It starts at the Funnily Service Center and Saes around Long Isle. It is a farsastic new <br />tool. He wants everyone to know, that Nese meetings are open to the public and you can check <br />out our meetings on the website. <br />
