VIL Staff Report - none VUL New Business -Skate Park Update—Trevor Hamdorf Breus introduced Hamdorf and reminded the Commission that prowling requested that Officer Hamdorfcome back to give an update to the Commission regarding the Freedom Park Store Board Park. • Hamdorfgave a briefpresentatim. He parentthe calls for service at Freedom Park have gone down significantly since 2008 when the calls were at 20 and now at 8 m 2010. Notion commented that it seems that the more recent calls to Public Safety are not as bad as the ones previously. Barnhart stressed that every call is important W the person calling. It is hard to categorize which calls are worse than others. Even though underage smoking may not beat the same level as fighting, Public Safety knows that if they can deal with the little stuff early, it gets rid of the other stuff that's going on. Breuer remmad the focus of the meeting back W the service levels discussion. A sub -committee was fomred. Enveloped, Heinrich and Stmb volunteered. These individuals will being a recommendation back W the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission. The Commit requested that PREC meet in July because of this issue. It is important that the sub -committee meet before the July meeting so that they cam bring information to the July meeting. Council approved the Parks and Recreation recommendationf service level cuts because the Fall Brochure deadline is approaching. However, they would like PREC W also look over this rxommrndation and make changes, if necessary, that would than be reinstated in the future. Breuer stated the second part of this relates W the fan that we log 3 full-time positions. For the • summer we are utilizing seasonal gaff W assist an we can maintain all our advertised programs. In the fall, we will have real Issues W maintain those programs with the scoffing levels we have. Council has already determined that staffing levels will not change, so with that we do need to evaluate programs.
