The Police Division held an annual meeting; Officer Ted Layton apprehended 4 <br /> suspects near his home in Minneapolis; using verbal commands and physical training, without a <br /> weapon he was able to hold the suspects until Minneapolis Police arrived. Detective (Acting <br /> Sergeant)Mitch Singer was awarded Officer of the Year. Deputy Director Dan Olson received a <br /> life-saving award. <br /> Gina Bauman <br /> Councilmember Bauman reported the EDC met January 18th. The Stuart project was discussed. <br /> Arne Cook was hired to work on marketing efforts in the Northwest Quadrant. The next EDC <br /> meeting is scheduled for February 15, 2011. Councilmember Bauman reported she is looking <br /> forward to serving as liaison to the Cable Commission. <br /> David Phillips <br /> Councilmember Phillips reported the Planning Commission met January 18th . The Pet <br /> Cremation business was reviewed. Councilmember Phillips reported one building on Old <br /> Highway 8 has recently been renovated and welcomed three new businesses; Scooter Central, <br /> Brighton Unique Auto and Pets Remembered. It was reported garage door monitors are still <br /> available. <br />
