The repairs have been estimated at $14,000 from
MacQueen Equipment.
We are ordering this vehicle now in anticipation of a spring delivery to be ready for spring street
sweeping. This vehicle takes two months to build once ordered.
Vehicle Condition Index: Public Works has implemented a Vehicle Condition Point Index
System to rate each new vehicle purchase. This system was developed by the American Public
Works Association (APWA) to be used by fleet managers all across the country. This new
system factors in Age, Miles/Hours, Reliability, Maintenance and Repair Costs, Vehicle
Condition, and operating cost per mile. Attached to this memo is the Vehicle Condition Point
Index for vehicle #972 (the street sweeper proposed to be replaced). The score is a 35 and
qualifies the vehicle for immediate replacement consideration.
Grant M.
