Public Safety Commission <br /> January 26, 2011 <br /> Attending: Commissioner Kerns (Chair), Commissioner Allen,Commissioner <br /> Bredenbeck, Commissioner Kroll, Commissioner Schumann, <br /> Commissioner Tollefson, Commissioner Woods, Council Representative <br /> Samuelson, Dave Matteson(Allina), Public Safety Director Jacobson and <br /> Public Safety Officer Joey Zuehlke <br /> Absent: Commission Haring <br /> Citizens: Long Nguyen <br /> Call to Order/Roll Call <br /> Commissioner Kerns called the meeting to order at 6:31 pm and roll call was taken. <br /> December Meeting Minutes <br /> The December meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Tollefson motioned to accept the <br /> minutes; Commissioner Allen seconded. Motion carried. <br /> Public Hearing/Presentations <br /> Handling of Animal Investigations—PSO Joey Zuehlke <br /> PSO Joey Zuehlke has been employed with us for 9 years; she is a full-time employee, working <br /> Monday through Friday. PSO Zuehlke stated the main types of animal calls she gets are for dog <br /> at large,barking dog and dog bites. When she receives an animal call from dispatch, she will <br /> call the complainant and get some background on what is happening and what the issue is. <br /> PSO Zuehlke will then contact the suspect and talk with them and make sure they are aware <br /> there is a complaint and aware of the City's ordinance. She will explain what the consequences <br /> will be if the complaint behavior continues and can result in a citation being written. She will <br /> follow-up with a warning letter so there is also a written record. <br /> PSO Zuehlke noted these citations are difficult to prosecute and it takes time to go through the <br /> court process. <br /> Updates <br /> CERT/Citizen Corps Council <br /> No report. <br />
