Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> Deputy Director Paetznick noted a Minneapolis Police Officer located the white Suburban we <br /> were looking for in conjunction with the Jimmy John's robbery. This vehicle will be processed <br /> by the Hennepin County Crime Lab. <br /> We have been receiving calls regarding an odor by Long Lake and Rice Creek. There have been <br /> various city departments involved in these calls and have come to the conclusion the odor is the <br /> result of natural decomposition of vegetation. We will continue to monitor this. <br /> Officer Emerson will be done as the School Resource Officer(SRO) at Irondale High School at <br /> the end of this school year. Officer Griffin, who is currently the SRO at the ALC, will be the <br /> SRO at Irondale High School this fall. <br /> Council Liaison <br /> Council Report <br /> Council Representative Samuelson noted the Police Department awards that were presented at <br /> the Council meeting. <br /> Two new businesses were granted on sale liquor licenses; Glory Days Sports Bar and Grill, 500 <br /> 5th Ave NW, and 400 Heat, 400 Old Highway 8 NW. <br /> The Ramsey County Library proposal and construction plans are still being worked on. <br /> Old Business <br /> Update on Silver Lake Flats <br /> Deputy Director Paetznick reported Anthony Beasley has been charged with GM Theft. His <br /> property has been placed in"receivership" as it moves into foreclosure. <br /> Synthetic Marijuana <br /> Deputy Director Paetznick noted the MN House did hear and pass a bill to regulate synthetic <br /> marijuana. <br /> Animal Ordinance <br /> The updates to the Animal Ordinance are scheduled to go to Council March 22na <br /> New Business <br /> Commission Chair <br /> With the Commission term limits, Commissioner Kerns will be done serving on the Public <br /> Safety Commission as of March 31, 2011 unless Council decides to extend terms. <br />
