-2-
Martens mentioned that the hours were developed by Ramsey County
staff; using their expertise.
Bruce Thompson said the goal is to serve the community and if the hours
need to be changed, they can be changed.
• Inquiry about library staff and city staff communicating.
Bruce Thompson stated there is a lease that governs the operations. If
something came up that couldn't be resolved, we would look to the lease.
Brad Martens and Meg Roberts will be the ones that work out most of the
issues that come up.
• Are the interne terminals going to be tied to the County's system to look
up books, etc
Yes
Janice Gundlach, City Planner was present. She noted the biggest issue is pa" ing. Feels
we will need more parking before the first year is through. There are some things in the
current parking lot that do not meet standards; such as the drive through width. People
parking in unmarked stalls, could create issues for emergency vehicles. The number of
handicapped stalls would need to be reevaluated.
The issue of traffic flow came up again (i.e. who has the right of way in the round-about).
Janice Gundlach said that signs (without any special process) can be posted if desired to
help traffic flow (i.e. stay right, or similar). None Scheduled
Trevorrow mentioned that Fridley just received $110,000 to improve the
walking/biking connections between the North Star commuter rail station and
communities to the south. He stated the Trails committee did so much and now
we are missing things. We need to keep on top of some of these things. There may
be grant money available and it would be nice to be able to receive some of that.
Frischman agreed that it would be nice to have specific topics of discussion on the
agenda each month related to Trails, Bike and Walk-ways. Trevorrow mentioned
that we do not have a bike trail plan. Frischman stated she is excited about the trail
extension on Old Highway 8, but it would have been nice to be involved earlier in
the planning. Frischman suggested we start by looking at the Public Works street
projects for the next two years and start there by developing a Trails
Comprehensive Plan or priority list and always make it a part of this meeting so it
doesn't get lost. We want to be proactive instead of reactive to something that has
already happened. Frischman suggested that the Parks, Recreation and
Environmental Commission request a copy of the Public Works seal coating and
