<br /> Councilmember Burg questioned how PVC and ductile compare. Director Wyffels stated ductile has a
<br /> very good track record, as well as PVC. It was noted that ductile is easier to locate.
<br /> Councilmember Phillips commented that he is not in favor of negotiated deducts, and would be in
<br /> agreement with using the ductile iron.
<br /> Councilmember Burg questioned the long term effects of both the PVC and ductile, specifically tree
<br /> roots. Director Wyffels root problem occur more in sewer lines than in water main lines.

<br /> adopt the attached resolution awarding a contract for City Project 11-1, 2011 Street

<br /> The low bid of$324,550.98 was submitted by Peterson Companies, Inc. is 5.2 percent above the
<br /> engineer's estimate of$308,620.85.
<br /> City Project 11-3 consists of the following: 1) The removal and replacement of the bituminous
<br /> surfacing in Hansen Park along with the addition a bituminous trail connection to the existing
<br /> neighborhood shelter, and the installation of a biofiltration basin. 2) The relocation of the Silver Oaks
<br /> Park hard court. 3)An overlay for the hard court and trail at Vermont Park.
<br /> City Project 11-8 includes the construction of 51 additional parking stalls, a concrete sidewalk, and
<br /> storm water improvements to meet Rice Creek Watershed District requirements. As a part of the
<br /> discussions with PREC, parking lot lighting, wider concrete sidewalks, and additional pedestrian curb
<br /> ramps were added to this project. This added some additional cost that was not provided for in the
<br /> original cost estimates.
<br /> The bids are consistent with the engineer's estimate,with the exception of the storm water
<br /> improvements as part of City Project 11-3. To meet current storm water improvement guidelines,
