Roll Call
Present: Commissioners Fields, Frischman, Jacobsen, Lundberg, Nguyen, Parker,
Trevorrow, Weber, Director of Parks and Recreation Breuer and Council Liaison Phillips
Absent: None
III. Minutes of June 1, 2011
MOTION BY, JERED WEBER, SECONDED BY ALYSSA LUNDBERG, TO
APPROVE THE JUNE 1, 2011 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED.
IV. Old Business—Civil Engineer II - Craig Schlichting and Public Works Director- Grant
Wyffels
A. NBCC Parking Lot, Silver Oaks Hard Court, Hansen Park Parking Lot and
Old Highway 8 Sidewalk Trail
The above projects are all individual projects, but under one plan. The Old
Highway 8 Sidewalk Trail project had to be pulled because of the State
shutdown.
New Brighton Community Center Parking Lot
• It has been surveyed and soil borings taken.
• Some trees need to be taken as a result of this project.
• As part of the permitting process with the Rice Creek Watershed District,
the City is required to do storm water improvements.
• The drainage from this parking lot will go under the current entrance/exit
of the parking lot, except the 9 stalls in upper right of the map.
• As part of the improvements, two new lights will be added. They will
match the brown lights.
• Part of the improvement included sidewalks on Old Hwy 8 and 10`h Street.
They are eligible for State Aid. From Old Hwy. 8 over to the overflow
parking lot is eligible for funding. Because the State is shut down, State
staff are not available to review the plan. Once the plan is reviewed and
approved by the State, it can be bid, then back to MNDOT. It may have to
be a next spring project. Grading for the sidewalk will be done so it can be
done quickly once they start.
• This Commission had recommended a concrete apron at the entrance and
through the new parking lot overflow area. The City is replacing the paved
crosswalk with concrete. The sidewalk from Old Hwy 8 to the entrance of
the new parking lot will be concrete. It will be 8 feet wide. There will be a
new people crossing from the overflow lot by the pedestrian bridge; a new
knock down curb close to the bridge will be put in.
-2-
