The <br /> type of roof to be installed at both locations is asphalt built up roof(BUR). <br /> Legislative History: On July 26, 2011 the City Council accepted a proposal for engineering <br /> services from Inspec, Inc. and authorized preparation of plans and specifications and advertisement <br /> of the project. <br /> Financial Impact: The following four quotes were received for this project on August 3, 2011: <br /> Total Well House 10 &11 Total Well House 10 &11 Cost for <br /> Cost for Built-up Roofs PVC Roofs <br /> Engineer's Estimate $67,000 $51,000 <br /> Berwald Roofing $79,400 $87,310 <br /> Palmer West Construction $81,830 $86,780 <br /> Commercial Roofing $82,100 $102,200 <br /> John A. Dalsin and Son $92,590 $97,700 <br /> A bid tabulation has been completed by Inspec and bid totals verified. <br /> The lowest responsible bidder, Berwald Roofing, has not done work for the City in the past, but <br /> has done similar work in other communities and is qualified and capable of performing work of <br /> this kind and magnitude. <br /> If awarded, work will be completed by November 1, 2011. <br /> In Previous Worksession discussion related to roofs, Council has directed staff to install built up <br /> roof styles as the life cycle comparison of the roof options was so close and when other factors <br /> such as maintenance and repair costs are considered, the built up roof was the deemed the best <br /> choice and value. <br /> Explanation: This project involves the replacement of the roofs on Well House 10 and Well <br /> House 11. This original roofs date back to 1983 on Well House 10 and 1984 on Well House 11 <br /> when they were first constructed. The existing roofs are in disrepair, leaking, causing interior <br /> wall staining. The area proposed to be replaced is approximately 1,700 square feet on Well <br /> House 10 and 3,600 square feet on Well House 11. <br />
