By partnering with Healthways to offer this program, we are creating an opportunity
for older adults to utilize our facilities whereas the New Brighton Community Center will be
compensated for each visit by Healthways.
Explanation:
SilverSneakers is an established program affiliated with Healthways that provides benefits through
insurance for qualifying participants to take part in health and fitness activities free of charge and
Healthways reimburses the City of New Brighton at$3 per visit. The qualifying participants will
have access to a sampling of group fitness classes, a basic membership and the possibility of
including aquatics classes. The program will be marketed through a strategic campaign by
Healthways including direct mail, open house events and call campaigns. Our marketing efforts will
include news releases, email blasts, articles placed in city publications and on the city website.
Cost and Funding:
To begin the program, Healthways will provide equipment for up to 30 participants. Once that
number is reached, additional equipment will be purchased through the community center operating
budget. Expenses have been allocated in the 2012 budget to accommodate these additional purchases.
In terms of revenue, all eligible participants that scan in will result in a$3 payment to the New
Brighton Community Center up to a maximum of$30 per program participant per month.
