This agreement allows the New Brighton Community <br /> Center to offer the SilverSneakers Fitness Program, including exercise classes and a basic fitness <br /> membership for participating adults 65 and older. <br /> Legislative History: <br /> None <br /> Financial Impact: <br /> Currently, an estimated 900 Medicare members are eligible for SilverSneakers within our <br /> community. By partnering with Healthways to offer this program, we are creating an opportunity <br /> for older adults to utilize our facilities whereas the New Brighton Community Center will be <br /> compensated for each visit by Healthways. <br /> Explanation: <br /> SilverSneakers is an established program affiliated with Healthways that provides benefits through <br /> insurance for qualifying participants to take part in health and fitness activities free of charge and <br /> Healthways reimburses the City of New Brighton at$3 per visit. The qualifying participants will <br /> have access to a sampling of group fitness classes, a basic membership and the possibility of <br /> including aquatics classes. The program will be marketed through a strategic campaign by <br /> Healthways including direct mail, open house events and call campaigns. Our marketing efforts will <br /> include news releases, email blasts, articles placed in city publications and on the city website. <br /> Cost and Funding: <br /> To begin the program, Healthways will provide equipment for up to 30 participants. Once that <br /> number is reached, additional equipment will be purchased through the community center operating <br /> budget. Expenses have been allocated in the 2012 budget to accommodate these additional purchases. <br /> In terms of revenue, all eligible participants that scan in will result in a$3 payment to the New <br /> Brighton Community Center up to a maximum of$30 per program participant per month.
