RESOLUTION NO <br /> 11- <br /> CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN AMERICAN <br /> HEALTHWAYS SERVICES,LLC AND THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> WHEREAS, SilverSneakers is an established program affiliated with Healthways that provides <br /> benefits through insurance for qualifying participants to take part in health and fitness <br /> activities free of charge and Healthways reimburses the City of New Brighton at$3 per <br /> visit; and <br /> WHEREAS, The qualifying participants will have access to a sampling of group fitness classes, a <br /> basic membership and the possibility of including aquatics classes. The program will <br /> be marketed through a strategic campaign by Healthways including direct mail, open <br /> house events and call campaigns. Our marketing efforts include news releases, email <br /> blasts, articles placed in city publications and on the city website; and <br /> WHEREAS, Currently, an estimated 900 Medicare members are eligible for SilverSneakers <br /> within our community. By partnering with Healthways to offer this program, we <br /> are creating an opportunity for older adults to utilize our facilities and the New <br /> Brighton Community Center will be compensated for each visit by Healthways <br /> WHEREAS, Healthways will provide equipment for up to 30 participants to begin the program. <br /> Once that number is reached, additional equipment will be purchased through the <br /> community center operating budget. Expenses have been allocated in the 2012 budget <br /> to accommodate these additional purchases, and <br /> WHEREAS, In terms of revenue, all eligible participants that scan in will result in a$3 payment to <br /> the New Brighton Community Center up to a maximum of$30 per program participant <br /> per month. A minimum monthly payment guarantee is included in the agreement of <br /> $250. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of New Brighton that New <br /> Brighton adopts this resolution approving the agreement between American <br /> Healthways Services, LLC, and the City of New Brighton. This agreement allows the <br /> New Brighton Community Center to offer the SilverSneakers Fitness Program, <br /> including exercise classes and a basic fitness membership for participating adults 65 <br /> and older. <br />
