September 13,2011 Page 4 of 6 <br /> an Equipment Certificates debt service tax levy of$172,000 for a total of$7,287,308 for <br /> taxes payable in 2012. The 2012 proposed operating tax levy is $280,400 less than 2011. <br /> Dates for future meetings to discuss the 2012 Budgets and tax levies were set. A Public <br /> Hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. Adoption of the final 2012 <br /> Budgets and tax levies will be considered at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, <br /> December 13, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Council Chambers in City <br /> Hall. <br /> Director Maiers noted that the Lake Diane Storm Sewer Improvement Taxing District <br /> has had a tax levy for several years, and benefiting property owners are in agreement with it. <br /> The proposed 2012 levy for the Lake Diane Storm Sewer Improvement Taxing District is <br /> $2,250, unchanged from 2011. <br /> Councilmember Phillips stated that the preliminary levy can be changed,just not increased. <br /> Councilmember Phillips commented that he is in favor of the levy at the reduced amount <br /> $7,287,308, but is not in favor of dedicating a specific amount to debt services. <br /> Councilmember Samuelson expressed her gratitude to Finance Director Maiers for his diligent efforts in <br /> preparing the 2012 budget. <br /> Councilmember Burg suggested interested residents listen to budget work session on line for more detailed <br /> information. <br /> Councilmember Bauman thanked Director Maiers,Council,City Staff,and City Manager Lotter for their <br /> collaborative efforts in the process,and suggested staffprovide links via the City's website to assist <br /> residents to understand the tax process. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Phillips,seconded by Councilmember Bauman to adopt the <br /> Resolution Adopting The Proposed Tax Levy For Taxes Payable In 2012 and to set the <br /> dates for the 2012 Budget Discussion with Public Comment and The Determination of <br /> the Final 2012 Tax Levies,with amendments noted on the Resolution. <br /> 5 Ayes,0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> 2. Consider approval of Resolution Adopting the Proposed Tax Levy for Taxes <br /> Payable in 2012 for Lake Diane Storm Sewer Improvement District. <br /> Report No. 11-253.
