Brighton Public Safety is essentially following the blueprint that they recommend for police and <br /> fire agencies. <br /> Police and Fire have been very busy lately participating with a variety of charities; running the <br /> Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run and participating in the North Metro Relay for <br /> Life which was held at Irondale High School with proceeds to benefit the American Cancer <br /> Society. <br /> Deputy Director Paetznick and Firefighter Nate Macziewski recently spent a week of"vacation" <br /> building homes for Habitat for Humanity. <br /> Fire fighter Andy Vik, Police Officer/Fire Captain Brad Krebsbach and Director Jacobson all ran <br /> in and completed the 2011 Grandma's Marathon in Duluth on June 21. <br /> Council Liaison <br /> A. Council Report <br /> Council Member Burg reported the library ground breaking was held on June 7. The footings <br /> are now poured and fundraising continues for the library to add extra things that can not be <br /> purchased by Ramsey County. The grand opening should be the end of October. <br /> The ground breading for"The View" apartments was today, June 29. <br /> Ryan Companies has a 2-year deal with the city to advertise for the New Brighton Exchange <br /> area. <br /> New Business <br /> A. Future Meeting Nights <br /> Commissioner Benke suggested changing the monthly meeting night to Monday. There was <br /> discussion regarding this change. <br /> Commissioner Woods motioned to move the Public Safety Commission monthly meeting to the <br /> last Monday of the month at 6:30 pm; seconded by Commissioner Benke. 7 Ayes, 1 Nay- <br /> Motion Carried. <br /> B. Impact an Public Safety from State Government "Shutdown" <br /> Director Jacobson reported there will be little to no direct effect for Public Safety as a result of <br /> the State shutdown. Any payments will still be coming in from the State. The State Fire <br /> Marshal's office will be shut down. <br /> Adjourn <br /> Commissioner Woods motioned to adjourn the June 2011 Public Safety Commission meeting; <br /> seconded by Commissioner Benke. The meeting adjourned at 8:58 pm. <br />
