B. Allina Medical <br /> Mr. Dave Matteson, Allina Medical, gave a brief overview of Allina for the new commissioners. <br /> Through thee Emergency Medical Regulatory Board, Allina is licensed by the State of <br /> Minnesota to provide ambulance service to a certain area. Allina will ask for mutual aid and <br /> give mutual aid when needed. <br /> Allina has received preliminary authorization to move their Arden Hills facility to a new location <br /> in Blaine (35W& 85th Ave). This larger location is needed to house their growing company and <br /> fleet. Allina will still need to find some satellite bases. <br /> Allina has 13 new paramedics starting today. Also, due to overtime costs and the increased call <br /> load, Allina is adding an additional 12 hours a day to the north metro area. <br /> Life Link III will cease ground transports. Allina will now provide these critical care ground <br /> transports. <br /> Mr. Matteson provided statistical reports for Allina's response to calls in New Brighton. These <br /> reports were reviewed, questions were answered and suggestions were made to enhance these <br /> reports. <br /> C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> Commissioner Woods provided the following information: <br /> a Dixie Louma has resigned from the VIPS. She will be missed very much. <br /> a VIPS members continue to assist with house watch checks. <br /> a The VIPS worked at the recent triathlon and received $500 for their organization. <br /> a VIPS continue to fingerprint on Thursday mornings. <br /> a VIPS will do the Fire Department dinner on July 18. <br /> a VIPS will help with the Bike Rodeo on July 29. <br /> a VIPS will be at the Christ the King block party on August 24. <br /> a VIPS will help at Stockyard Days. <br /> a VIPS will help at the Document Shredding Day on August 27. <br /> D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> NNO is on August 2nd. Let us know if you'd like to ride with a group for the night to visit <br /> parties. Meet at 5:30 pm in the fire apparatus bay of the Public Safety Center. <br /> The City and Public Safety are working thru the budget process for 2012. No cuts are expected. <br /> We are in a police officer hiring process and anticipate hiring one officer to replace the vacancy <br /> left by the retirement of Mary Bitzan. We recently interviewed 18 applicants with 6 applicants <br /> moving forward for a second interview. <br /> Director Jacobson and Deputy Director Paetznick recently attended training at the League of MN <br /> Cities for a course titled "What Questions You Should Ask Your Police and Fire Chiefs."
