Concern for safety; <br /> people cross in middle of the street. Football has taken over and softball is <br /> done. <br /> Innsbruck—Tom -Nothing reported. <br /> Vermont- Adam—Nothing reported. <br /> Freedom—Long—Hockey rink. <br /> Sunny Square—Mayor(report from Council Member Phillips) Storm <br /> sewer work there. <br /> Driftwood—Kevin—Nothing reported. He did report there is a tree house <br /> going up on the northwest corner of Hansen Park, down from 6th Street <br /> and 131h. Residents that live there are using the wetland area for their <br /> compost site. Perhaps a sign could be put up. There is a sign up on <br /> Brentwood and County Road E that says "No Dumping". Perhaps a <br /> duplicate of that one could be made and posted at Hansen. <br /> Breuer mentioned that she will be doing the annual park tour with Jason <br /> West and Chris Wolla. <br /> D. Department Happenings /upcoming events <br /> • We are having a Fall Into Fitness Open House, October 10, 6am— <br /> 10pm. <br /> • The library grand opening is Oct. 29 at loam <br /> • Lunch and Learn senior program started; we had 17 attend on the <br /> topic of Scams and Fraud. <br /> • Zumba is becoming very popular. We will be adding another night. <br /> • Trees, along with the cottonwood, and brush came down at the <br /> Community Center. Twenty seven new trees have been planted. <br /> Twelve more trees will be planted along 10th <br /> • Staff attended the school open houses and gave out information on <br /> the Eagles Nest and birthday parties. It was a huge success. <br /> • Staff implemented a"Read to Play" coupon. If kids read toward a <br /> goal, they get a free coupon to play at the Eagles Nest. This is <br /> geared toward first and second grade classes. <br /> • There have been a number of improvements still continuing after <br /> our shut down. Carpeting is now complete. <br /> • Sunny Square Park received some sewer work and during the <br /> process we removed the swings and dug down to add fabric and <br /> wood chips to help with weed control in the playground area. <br />
