City of New Brighton Police Civil Service Commission Commission Meeting Minutes September 22,2011 Attending: Commissioner Kerns, Commissioner Ketola, Assistant to the City Manager Johnson, Director Jacobson Absent: Commissioner Kraus Roll Call/Call to Order: At 5:02 pm on September 22, 2011,the Police Civil Service Commission meeting was called to order by the Chair, Commissioner Kerns. Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Ketola motioned and was seconded by Commissioner Kerns to accept and approve the minutes from the previous meeting of May 17, 2011. The motion was approved. Review and Approval of Police Sergeant Promotional Process Director Jacobson and Assistant to the City Manager Johnson reviewed the promotional process as proposed by PDI. The components recommended for the testing include the Background and Experience instrument, Role Play exercise, oral/panel interview, Police Career Index written testing and Promotability Index. Applications for the process are due to Mr. Johnson on Friday, September 30t''. An overview/orientation for potential applicants is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 at 3 pm at the Public Safety Center. Commissioner Ketola motioned to approve the Police Sergeant Promotional Process as proposed and was seconded by Commissioner Kerns. The motion was approved. Old Business The Commissioners were given an update on Police Officer Hiring Process which included the recent hiring of Officer Scott Kingslien and Officer Tom Nerison. New Business None Adjournment: Commissioner Ketola seconded by Commissioner Kerns motioned to adjourn the meeting at 5:23 pm. The motion passed unanimously.
