ii. Basketball Court Breuer gave the history: • On March 7, 2011 a letter was sent out to Silver Oak residents. The letter said that the City wanted to move the basketball court to the lower level of the park so it would be closer to the parking lot (for better visibility) and keep play uses together(tennis court and basketball court). The fix would allow for realignment of the ball field and fix the washout area on the existing field where the backstop is. • Moving the basketball court would result in having a full soccer field, without overlapping with the baseball field. The new court would be adjusted to a '/2 size standard court(this keeps play to a recreational level). This was in the pavement management plan in 2011. • Four responses from residents were received. Three were ok with it, but had questions. One was opposed to moving the court. • Grant Wyffels, Public Works Director came to PREC and gave a presentation. PREC was in agreement with the relocation. • Bids were accepted prior to the project starting. • Council approved the relocation. • Council received a petition from 10 residents. • Council sent it back to PREC to review. PREC asked staff to send a letter to those 10 people inquiring why they did not want the basketball court moved;two responses were received. • In the petition it was mentioned that it would ruin the sledding hill by fencing, but the court will not be fenced. • There was discussion about water run off.There was a storm drain added because of the runoff. Vermont Park Shelter Breuer gave the history: • At the Feb. 2, 2011 PREC meeting, Grant Wyffels shared with the Commission on demolishing the structure. • At the June 14, 2011 Council meeting, a written report went to Council and recommended demolition.
