projects were lumped together for bidding purposes and
that directive was not to exceed $10,000 for the demolition
of the Vermont Park shelter.
• Information on revenue and rental usage was shared with
Council. The building is in despair. There was an
understanding that when the new neighborhood centers
were built, that when the older remaining buildings met
their useful life, they would be demolished; no further
money would be put into them. Council pulled this item
and had further discussion and sent it back to PREC in July
of 2011.PREC wanted to wait until after the park tour to
make a decision.
• The demolition estimated cost was between $5,000 and
$10,000. The building would need a new roof, siding and
windows at an estimated cost of up to $70,000.
The Commission thought it wise to watch how the park is being
used for a season after the demolition, and if the City receives calls
from residents, a decision about the park could be made at that
time.
MOTION BY TOM TREVORROW, SECONDED BY JERED
WEBER, TO STAY WITH OUR ORIGINAL MOTION AND
RECOMMEND THAT THE VERMONT SHELTER BUILDING
BE DEMOLISHED. MOTION CARRIED.
C. Goose Management
The City Attorney provided a motion for recommendation.
