Announcements
A. Council Report—Council Member
Jacobsen stated that he has been on a lot of Commissions and he
appreciates volunteers. He thanked the Commission for helping
fulfill the mission of keeping New Brighton the place where we
want to live and raise our kids.
Breuer stated that term limits are currently 3 years. Some
Commissioners filled vacant positions so appointments will be up
before 3 years. Long Nguyen, Tom Trevorrow and Jered Weber
will have terms expiring March 31, 2012. Tom will meet the
maximum term limit.
Jacobsen asked for a general feeling about the term limits.
Commissioner responses are below:
• Do not have an issue of having to reapply after 3 years.
• The fact that you have a maximum term limit doesn't seem
necessary.
• To say to someone that is willing to help, that the City no
longer needs you because you put in X number of years, is
crazy.
• It should be up to the volunteer to decide when they are
done. Unless there is an issue and then the Council would
make a decision.
Jacobsen stated he addressed this while campaigning and this is
something he will address with the Council.
B. Chair Updates
Frischman commented that at the December meeting, PREC
received information about the resignation of Denise Jacobsen
from the Commission. She wanted to take the opportunity to
formally thank her for her service.
5
