Johnson, Assistant to the City Manager <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> No comments to supplement this report - Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: <br /> City staff is seeking City Council approve__of an ordinance revising Chapter 2 (Article 4, Section <br /> 2-63-Terns Limits; Section 2-69-Absence of Members; Section 2-67 Reports) of the City Code. <br /> Legislative History: <br /> At the March 13, 2012 City Council meeting, City staff were directed to implement changes to <br /> Article 4, Section 2-63 (Term Limits) and Article 4, Section 2.-69 (Absence of Members) of the <br /> City Code. <br /> The following is the proposed language change for Chapter 2, Article 4, Section 2-63 of the New <br /> Brighton City Code. <br /> Sec. 2-63. Terms Limits. <br /> (1) Planning Commission members will be allowed to serve four consecutive terms or a maximum of <br /> twelve years. <br /> (2) <br /> (2) Once a commission member has served on a commission for four consecutive terms or a <br /> maximum of twelve years,the City Council may reappoint that commission member to additional <br /> terms. <br /> (3) Effective April 1, 2010, the City Council will begin enforcing the term limits on current <br /> commission or committee members who have served'4 four consecutive terms. <br /> (4) If a commission or committee member is appointed by the City Council to complete the term of <br /> an individual that has resigned or been removed by the City Council,the time served by the <br /> commission or committee member to complete the remainder of an existing term will not count <br /> towards the term limit requirements set forth by the City. <br /> (5) A commission or committee member that has served the maximum number of terms allowed by <br /> the City is required to take a one year break from serving on that particular commission or <br /> committee. The member may then apply for reappointment to a different commission or <br /> committee after their term limit has expired.
