City staff is recommending that the following changes identified in red be adopted by the City <br /> Council to amend Chapter 2 (Article 4, Section 2-69 Absence of Members) of the New Brighton <br /> City Code: <br /> Sec. 2-69. Absence of Members. <br /> Attendance at meetings is of the utmost importance in carrying out the work of a commission or <br /> committee. If a member misses one third four of the scheduled meetings during the commission <br /> or committee's calendar year(April through March), the member's seat may <br /> become vacated and the City Council will can begin the process of filling the vacated seat. The <br /> City Manager shall be responsible for notifying the member of the intended and resulting action. <br /> (Ord 781, 7-14-2009, <br /> Ord. 797, 03-22-2011) <br /> City staff also conducted a review of Chapter 2 of the City Code and noticed that Chapter 2 <br /> (Article 4-Section 2-67) of the City Code was in need of a minor revision. At this time, <br /> Subdivisions 2, 3, and 4 were inadvertently duplicated from Chapter 2 (Article 4-Section 2-68 <br /> Rules and Procedures) and need to be removed. <br /> City staff is recommending that the following changes identified in red be adopted by the City <br /> Council to amend Chapter 2 (Article 4, Section 2-67 Reports) of the New Brighton City Code: <br /> Sec.2-67. Reports. <br /> The chairperson of each commission shall make a report to the City Council once a year.The report will <br /> be made at a regular Council meeting and will include a summary of issues and accomplishments of the <br /> commission during the past year. No. 610, 12 13 94-; Code of <br /> Sec. 2-68.Rules and Procedures. <br /> (1)Each commission shall adopt a set of rules to govern its meetings. <br /> (2)The rules may be amended from time to time but only upon notice to all members that the amendment <br /> will be acted upon at a regularly scheduled meeting. <br /> (3)A majority vote of the commission is required to approve a proposed amendment to the governing <br /> rules of the commission. <br /> (4)All meetings shall comply with the Minnesota open meeting laws.
