Dennis commented that by doing this type of project, it would cut the waste (droppings)by 50%. He said it would consist of a pole with a birdhouse attached to the top and the individual would then pull a bag from the top or bottom of the pole. This would also be considered a pilot program, as Brewer stated if this works, then these posts/bags should be implemented to all the other parks as well. Trevorrow asked how many of these posts were going to be placed and where at Hansen Park? Dennis and Maurie both suggested at all entrance near garbage cans and also by the shelter build- ing. E. Lighting of Softball Fields Dennis asked Maurie,per through a softball player,why is there only one softball field (Freedom Park) that is lit. Maurie stated that it would not be feasible nor appropriate, as all the other parks are in or around neighborhood communities--the lighting would be disruptive. The City made the decision to light only Freedom Park. Trevorrow raised the question who is responsible for turning and shutting these lights off. Maurie told him there is an attendant there when games are being played and this individual is responsible for just that. He also stated the money to pay this attendant comes out of the softball fund. The • park crews are responsible for cleaning up after games. VI. Old Business A. Update on Soccer Fields Tom received a fax from Denny--terms and conditions have been agreed upon, the loan application is waiting for final approval. Hopefully, the 12th, still awaiting a letter. Dennis mentioned he had some land that could be utilized as a soccer field because he is a member of the Economic Development Commission. Maurie stated he knew about that property but that it would take too much time to be able to use it. Trevorrow asked what happened to Hidden Oaks? Maurie replied that we need to get CIP approved. B.
