ct of
•flNFw
BRIGHT())
MEMORANDUM
To: Mayor and Council
From: Matt Fulton, City Manager
Subject: Supplemental Comments/Soccer Facility at Driftwood Park
Date: October 4, 1996
•he City Council will be considering a recommendation from the Parks, Recreation, and Environmental
Commission regarding the removal of an adult softball field at Driftwood Park and replace it with a Soccer field.
Over the course of the past couple weeks, I have received numerous letters addressed to the Mayor in support of
this action. I am attaching these documents for your review.
While I endorse the concept of the conversion of the adult softball field at Driftwood Park, it is important for the
Council to recognize that no budget proceeds have been included within the current 1997 capital improvement
program budget for the development of an irrigated regulation sized field at Driftwood Park. Accepting the
responsibility for the$22,000 appropriation would represent an additional request within next year's budget. My
suggestion would be to authorize the minor redevelopment of the Driftwood Park, yet delay a formal decision
regarding the development of the more expensive irrigated regulation sized field until budget discussions have
been completed.
i s\sharedkounoNreports\seccer-s.d p
