HEAD'S APPROVAL: <br /> MANAGER'S REVIEW/RECOMMENDATION: <br /> No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br /> v <br /> EXPLANATION/SUMMARY (attach supplemental sheets as necessary) <br /> The purpose of this item is to obtain Council authorization to advertise for bid for the construction of Well#15 and the <br /> abandonment of Well#7. Well #15 will be located on the northwest corner of the Belair School property on the parcel of <br /> land recently purchased from the Mounds View School District. Well#7 is located on the south end of Hansen Park at <br /> 1300 County Road E. <br /> We are proposing a bid opening date of April 9, 1997,with bids presented to Council at the April 22, 1997, Council <br /> meeting for consideration of awarding a bid. The project would be started in May with final completion in September, <br /> 1997. The final piece of the Army funded, Operable Unit#1 groundwater remediation project will the construction of the <br /> Well#15 pumphouse which will be brought to Council for action in the fall of 1997. <br /> ender this project, Well#7 will be abandoned and the pumphouse structure and driveway removed. The site will be <br /> restored to a natural grass area. As part of the final settlement agreement with the Army the City agreed to the <br /> abandonment of well#7 since it is contaminated and pumping from the aquifer in this location is detrimental to <br /> remediation. <br /> The project management and construction inspection will be handled by Barr Engineering and City Staff. <br /> The total cost of this project is estimated to be $166,000, and will be paid for by the Army from the Operable Unit#1 <br /> construction fund. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> To authorize the advertisement for bids for the Construction of Well #15 and Abandonment of Well#7 <br /> IwL <br /> Leslie J.
