Ave. N.W.
New Brighton, MN 55112
Dear Mr. Teague
4111 As you know, our site plan that we submitted to the city for the rebuilding
of the Tank-n-Tummy convenience store includes a car wash. You have
expressed a concern about the noise level created by the car wash dryer
when the bay doors are open and the dryer is running. In addressing this
possible problem, we discovered that a dryer is available with new
technology that allows for a noise reduction package. It greatly reduces
the decibel noise to a very acceptable level. If our plan is approved, we
will be using this model for our car wash. Also, I have proposed that we
will shut down the car wash between 11:00pm and 5:00am.
To give you an idea of the possible noise level of our updated car wash
dryer, the enclosed "Dryer Noise Emitting Test" conducted by Superior Car
Wash Systems, Inc. shows that the ambient noise level at 80 feet from the
dryer to be 67 dba. It also states that the ambient noise levels of street
traffic to be 65 dba. On our proposal, the distance from the dryer to the
curb line is 95 feet. This would make the noise level at the curb line to be
approximately 66 dba. The distance from the curb line to the house
directly north from our property is approximately100 feet. Ifyou reduced
the 66 dba one point for every 10 feet, the noise level at the house would
be approximately 56 dba.
