Commissioner Donohue inquired if the tobacco compliance checks were expensive to do. <br /> Director Jacobson reported the tobacco compliance checks are usually completed by one of the <br /> School Resource Officers who is on duty. Commissioner Kroll felt it was prudent for the City to <br /> adopt an ordinance that will address these issues. <br /> Commissioner Benke made a motion to recommend to Council to consider amending and <br /> updating the tobacco ordinance by adoption of the Model Tobacco Licensing Ordinance; <br /> seconded by Commissioner Lamp. Human Rights <br /> Commissioner Kroll reported the MN League of Human Rights Commissions met last Saturday, <br /> April 28, in Cottage Grove. They passed resolutions opposing the proposed Voter ID <br /> amendment and a resolution about bias/hate crimes. The next meeting is scheduled for May 12, <br /> in St. Paul, when they will be honoring the winners of the annual student essay contest. <br /> Commissioner Kroll reported the State Department of Human Rights asked for comment and <br /> input for the newly established Task Force on Bullying. <br /> Commissioner Kroll reported the collaboration among northern Ramsey county commissions <br /> will be hosting a hearing on May l Oth in Roseville about the proposed marriage amendment. <br /> Falcon Heights passed a resolution opposing the marriage amendment;joining Minneapolis, St. <br /> Paul, Duluth, and Edina. <br /> Commissioner Kroll reported she has found examples to review for proposing a protocol or <br /> process for responding to allegations of bias/hate crimes.
