This payment includes all
contract final quantities associated with the project (including extra costs for welding
inspection).
The contractor installed access stairs, access platforms, safety gates, and conveyors to the 4 iron
vessels at Water Treatment Plant#1. Previously, the iron vessels were accessed via a permanent
ladder and narrow access platform attached to each vessel. This configuration made it difficult
to lift and change the filter media in each vessel. Media is changed twice per year. This project
was a significant safety upgrade to the water treatment plant.
Three access stairs were included in this project to provide access to the four iron filters; one
stairway to Vessel #1, a common stairway to Vessels #2 and #3, and one stairway to Vessel #4.
Two large access platforms were also included in this package; one common platform for
Vessels #2 and #3, and one platform for Vessel #4. Safety gates were installed to openings on
the existing access platforms.
Costs and Funding: The total cost of this project is funded from Fund 206 —NBCGRS Army
Water Fund.
Grant M Wyffe s .E.
Director of Publi Works
Attachment—Letter from Barr dated July 27, 2012
