City city improvements. <br /> Project 12-3 included the replacement of the City Hall parking lot, Veterans Park trail and Report No.12-186. <br /> Golden Pond would be dredged. Also, the Meadow Wood Park hard court would be replaced, Resolution No. 12-059. <br /> the Driftwood Park parking lot would be reconstructed, the Hansen Park parking lot would be <br /> reconstructed and the Well#8 paved area would be redone. City Project 12-8 included the <br /> final lift of bituminous paving on Northwest Parkway in front of the property, the final lift of <br /> bituminous paving on Central Park Boulevard and 8' of bituminous trail located on Outlot A. <br /> He noted bids were received for both projects with the lowest responsible bidder being <br /> Peterson Companies, Inc. with a bid of$412,866. He discussed the historical prices of paving <br /> projects noting the bidding climate was higher at this time. Peterson Companies has done <br /> work for the City in the past and is qualified and capable of performing work of this kind. If <br /> awarded, the contract requires project completion by November 2, 2012. <br /> Councilmember Bauman asked if the City had a replacement cycle for the City's parking lots. <br /> Public Works Director Wyffels indicated the City had a 30-year schedule for all City parking lots and a 20- <br /> year replacement schedule for City trails. <br /> Councilmember Bauman requested further information on the mobilization fee. Public Works Director <br /> Wyffels discussed this matter in further detail. <br /> Councilmember Jacobsen asked how often Golden Pond would be dredged. Public Works Director Wyffels <br /> stated the City has programmed$80,000 for dredging on an annual basis. These monies could be used for <br /> large or small projects depending on the City's needs. He explained that the City has moved away from <br /> sanding to salt in the winter months with the hopes of reducing the need for future pond dredging. <br /> Councilmember Samuelson asked why there was such a large difference between the contractor's bid and the <br /> engineer's estimate.
